Monte Carlo simulations with few DOF’s in large molecules
This Technical Report introduces a data structure and an algorithm to efficiently to efficiently determine rigid clusters in a given molecule. This is a relevant problem in Monte Carlo simulations where the actuated DOFs change at each iteration. If the number of actuated DOFs is small, large temporary rigid groups appear during the time spanned by a MCS step. This document also provides a way of calculating the total energy in the molecules taking into account only inter-rigid energy terms. Thus, a large fraction of energy terms are not required to
be computed, namely intra-rigid terms.Postprint (published version
This research examines the relationship between burnout and its dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment), and the labor characteristics of professionals who work with people with disabilities in Cordoba. This is a prevalence study, descriptive and transversal. The sample consists of 157 professionals working in centers and companies care to people with disabilities in Cordoba.
The results showed that a high level of generalized Burnout. And in response to labor variables, it has been obtained that professionals with 21 years or more experience, more Burnout suffer the most inexperienced. Professionals with permanent contracts in your company have higher levels of burnout than those defined. The professionals who have spent more than 21 years in the current job suffer more burnout than the group that takes 5 years or less, and also professionals with long worked in the same company, more than 21 years show higher levels Burnout professionals with less than 5 years or less.
These results confirm previous studies (Puialto, Antolin and Moure, 2006), and have identified that more than half of workers have high levels of Burnout. And it is therefore crucial for the professional field of disability, for the company and for society issue, should insist on this research to help reduce the Burnout in this grou
A key element of acknowledged consensus in Spanish educational policy: Spanish foreign educational policy
very critical with the actions of linguistic and cultural projection undertaken by
emblematic institutions such as l’Alliance Française, the Goethe Institut, the British
Council and the Instituto Cervantes. In spite of these criticisms, it can be stated
that those institutions, not only develop an academically excellent task, but also
indeed develop an extremely laudable and irreplaceable action in respect of the
construction of the global multicultural and plurilingual societies. Spanish foreign
educational policy stands as one of the most solid and stable elements of the
precaurious consensus of the Spanish society in educational policy. Such policy is
articulated by a coherent and stable legislative frame which has been constructed
by the two main Spanish political parties. Spanish foreign educational policy is
vertebrated by a collection of institutions of diverse kind which hold the common
feature of developing an excellent education. The contents of the teachings in
those institutions disseminate the excellence of the Spanish cultural and linguistic
heritage. The Spanish teachers that teach abroad hold certain knowledge, aptitudes
and motivation and readiness which are not equally present in the Spanish
teaching forece that does not participate in those programmes. It can be stated
that, if PISA assessements had been undertaken on the basis of our pupils abroad,
the ranking of Spain in PISA would have been very different. The excellence of the
task and performance of the Spanish teaching abroad requires a diffusion and a
presence in the educational debate of Spanish society far much higher than the
one it has in the present
Layer Selection in Progressive Transmission of Motion-Compensated JPEG2000 Video
MCJ2K (Motion-Compensated JPEG2000) is a video codec based on MCTF (Motion- Compensated Temporal Filtering) and J2K (JPEG2000). MCTF analyzes a sequence of images, generating a collection of temporal sub-bands, which are compressed with J2K. The R/D (Rate-Distortion) performance in MCJ2K is better than the MJ2K (Motion JPEG2000) extension, especially if there is a high level of temporal redundancy. MCJ2K codestreams can be served by standard JPIP (J2K Interactive Protocol) servers, thanks to the use of only J2K standard file formats. In bandwidth-constrained scenarios, an important issue in MCJ2K is determining the amount of data of each temporal sub-band that must be transmitted to maximize the quality of the reconstructions at the client side. To solve this problem, we have proposed two rate-allocation algorithms which provide reconstructions that are progressive in quality. The first, OSLA (Optimized Sub-band Layers Allocation), determines the best progression of quality layers, but is computationally expensive. The second, ESLA (Estimated-Slope sub-band Layers Allocation), is sub-optimal in most cases, but much faster and more convenient for real-time streaming scenarios. An experimental comparison shows that even when a straightforward motion compensation scheme is used, the R/D performance of MCJ2K competitive is compared not only to MJ2K, but also with respect to other standard scalable video codecs

Exploiting single-cycle symmetries in branch-and-prune algorithms
As a first attempt to exploit symmetries in continuous con- straint problems, we focus on permutations of the variables consisting of one single cycle. We propose a procedure that takes advantage of these symmetries by interacting with a Branch-and-Prune algorithm without interfering with it. A key concept in this procedure are the classes of symmetric boxes formed by bisecting a n-dimensional cube at the same point in all dimensions at the same time. We quantify these classes as a function of n. Moreover, we propose a simple algorithm to generate the representatives of all these classes for any number of variables at very high rates. A problem example from the chemical field and a kinematics solver are used to show the performance of the approach in practice.Peer Reviewe

Effects of variable and constant temperatures on the embryonic development and survival of a new grape pest, xylotrechus arvicola (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)
Xylotrechus arvicola Olivier (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) has become a new expanding pest in grape (Vitis spp.) crops. To better improve control tactics, the consequences of 11 constant (12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 32, 34, 35 and 36°) and nine variable temperatures (with equal mean temperatures at each of the nine constant rates ranging from 15 to 35°) on survival and embryonic development were studied. The eggs were able to complete development at constant temperatures between 15 and 35°, with mortality rates at the extremes of the range of two and 81.5%, respectively. Using variable temperatures a mortality rate of 38.9% at a mean temperature of 15° and 99% at 35° was observed. The range of time for embryonic development was 29.5 d at 15° to 6 d at 32° at constant temperatures, and from 29.6 d at 15° to 7.2 d at 32° at variable temperatures. The goodness-of-fit of different development models was evaluated for the relationship between the development rate and temperature. The models that gave the best fit were the Logan type III for constant temperatures and The Briare for variable temperatures. Optimum temperatures were estimated to be from 31.7 to 32.9°. The models that best described embryo development under natural field conditions were the Logan type III model for constant temperatures (98.7% adjustment) and The Lactin model for variable temperatures (99.2% adjustment). Nonlinear models predicted faster development at constant temperatures and slower development at variable ones when compared with real field development, whereas the linear model always predicted faster development than what actually took place. © 2011 Entomological Society of America. The Spanish Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences and Technologies (INIA) funded this research, project no.
